ABOUT MD (Hom) Course

      M.D. (Hom) is a full time regular residential course of three years duration, affiliated to The West Bengal University of Health Sciences. It is regulated by the Central Council of Homoeopathy. Details of the subject & number of seats are as under:

            Total number of seats are 36,out of these 02(two) seats are reserved for candidates of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi Sectoral Technical & Economic Co-operation (BIMSTEC) countries  nominated by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Azad Bhavan, Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi. If no candidate is sponsored by ICCR from BIMSTEC countries, these seats will remain vacant. No other candidate shall be admitted against those seats.

From the academic session, 2014-2015 (PG Session 2014-2017, batch 16th) onwards Six (06) seats are earmarked for the Central Government Nominees (CGN). These seats are to be filled up by CGN, to be nominated by the deficient States/Union Territories (including North East States) through the Govt. of India, where Postgraduate Course in Homoeopathy i.e. M.D.(Hom) is not available. In case no nomination is received, the vacant seats shall be filled up from the merit lists of the candidate appearing at the West Bengal Postgraduate Homoeopathy Admission Test, conducted by The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata.  Such nomination shall be guided by the Revised Guidelines for Central Nomination to PG course, Govt. of India, notified Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Ayush vide letter No. F. No. R. 12013/02/2014-E&C (PG) dated 17th July 2014.

The Institute follows Central Government Reservation policy, prevalent at the time of admission.

RULES FOR ADMISSION TO MD (Hom) COURSES:

CONDITION OF ADMISSION:

      1.            The candidates, after being qualified in the All India Entrance Examination conducted by “The West Bengal University of Health Sciences”, Kolkata whose names are forwarded by the said University, after counselling, are required to report to the Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata. 
      2.            The Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata, shall verify the correctness of documents. On his satisfaction he shall direct the candidates to deposit all required fees etc., immediately.
      3.            The original certificates submitted shall not be returned to the candidates till the course is completed.
      4.            Candidates selected to various courses shall be whole time students. Service holders  will have to apply for study leave and are required to produce the orders wherein such leave has been sanctioned to them, from the competent authority within three months of joining the course.

  1. Physically Challenged candidates are not eligible for the course. The definition of “Physically challenged” will be in pursuance of the correspondence of both Medical Council of India as well as Central Council of Homoeopathy as under:
    1. Disability between 50% to 70% i.e. locomotor disability of lower limbs vide letter No. MCI-34(1)(Gen.)/2009-Med./2569 dated 21-04-2009
    2. Blind (including colour blind), deaf and/or dumb candidates shall not be allowed for admission in the course; vide Homoeopathy (Degree Course) B.H.M.S. Regulations (as amended up to 17-06-2005) Part – III.

 

 

CERTIFICATE AND DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED

 

The original certificates submitted will be retained by the Institute till the candidate successfully completes the M.D. (Hom) course duration. Candidates are required to keep sufficient nos. of attested photocopies of the documents preserved with themselves for future use/reference and record.  

 

  1. Nationality Certificates or Photocopy of the valid passport/ Domicile Certificate / Birth Certificate duly attested by Dean /Principal of previous institution attended.
  2. WBPGHAT Admit Card / University selection letter.
  3. Xth standard, admit card, pass certificate and mark sheet.
  4. XIIth standard admit card, Pass certificate  and mark sheet.
  5. Conduct Certificate from the head of the institution last attended.
  6. Transfer (College Leaving) Certificate from the institution last attended.
  7. All Mark sheets of the qualifying examination.
  8. Passing / Degree Certificate of qualifying examinations.
  9. Internship Completion Certificate.
  10. Attempt Certificates of all examination from head of the institution last attended.
  11. Caste Certificate (if applicable).
  12. OBC Caste Certificate indicating validity, issued after 31-03-2014.
  13. Non-Creamy layer validity Certificate for DT/VJ, NT-1, NT-2, NT-3, OBC (if applicable).
  14. Valid Registration Certificate from West Bengal Board of Homoeopathy or Central Council of Homoeopathy.
  15. Migration Certificate issued by the respective University, (if applicable).
  16. Self Educational GAP Affidavit by student (applicable if the GAP is more than six months after completion of qualifying degree).
  17. Medical Fitness Certificate/Orthopaedically challenged Certificate; (The definition of “Physically challenged” will be in pursuance of the correspondence of both Medical Council of India as well as Central Council of Homoeopathy as under:

  19. Blind (including colour blind), deaf and/or dumb candidates shall not be allowed for admission in the course; vide Homoeopathy (Degree Course) B.H.M.S. Regulations (as amended up to 17-06-2005) Part – III.
    1. Undertaking for not having taken admission to MD (Hom) Course on earlier occasions.
    2. Four recent passport size (3.5 cm X 4.5 cm) coloured photographs and four stamp size photographs all duly attested, Polarized and computer generated photographs are not acceptable.
    3. Anti-ragging affidavit as prescribed by the University Grants Commission in its website, www.ugc.ac.in/oldpdf/ragging/gazzetaug2010.pdf
    4. Online registration of the anti-ragging affidavit at www.antiragging.in
    5. Any other relevant document.

Note: The above certificates and testimonials (two sets of copies) duly attested by a Gazetted Officer /Principal of the institution last attended  along with original certificates for verification and the Medical Fitness Certificate duly signed by a civil surgeon/CDMO of State General Hospital have to be submitted at the time of admission.

Candidates already in Government Service selected to MD (Hom) courses at NIH shall have to apply for study leave and are required to produce the orders where in such leaves has been sanctioned to them, from the competent authority to the Director, NIH at the time of admission.

            A candidate who is not registered with the West Bengal Council of Homoeopathy

or Central Council  of  Homoeopathy  shall  have  to  obtain  Registration  with  West  Bengal  Council  of Homoeopathy or Central Council of Homoeopathy within one month of admission to the PG course.
