ABOUT BHMS Course
The All India Written Competitive Test (Admission Test) will be conducted by the Institute. The date of examination will be communicated to the candidate along with the Admit Card or earlier along with the notification. No candidate shall be admitted to the Examination Hall unless he/she holds a valid “Admit Card” issued by the Institute.
The All India Admission Test will be held at seven Centers: Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal. Candidate should therefore give her/his choice of center in the application. In case, the numbers of candidates who have opted for a particular center are less, then the centers at Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Bhopal will be cancelled and the candidates will be allotted the nearest center. Accordingly candidate who opts for Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Bhopal has to mention her/his second choice of center of examination from amongst Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Candidates must note that center of examination once allotted to them shall not be changed and any request for such change will not be entertained at any stage.
The Admission Test will be of three hours duration and will have one paper consisting of four parts viz., A, B, C and D. The pattern of questions will be multiple choice (single correct answer) type with 200 questions – Biology (60 questions), Physics (60 questions), Chemistry (60 questions) and General Knowledge (20 questions).There will be negative markings for wrong answers. The General standard of the Admission Test will be that of 12th Class under 10+2 schemes or an equivalent examination as per Indian Standards. Answer script shall be on OMR sheet.
Entrance Test and evaluation shall be conducted through Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) system.
Only Successful candidates will be intimated by post. No intimation will be sent to unsuccessful candidates. Candidates must also note that the Institute does not issue or supply any mark-sheet for their appearing in the Admission Test and no correspondence on this Subject will be entertained.
SEATS AVAILABLE
Total 93 (Ninety Three) seats are available for admission to the 5½ years B.H.M.S. Degree Course at NIH for the academic session 2015-2016. However counselling/admission in these seats to the session 2015-2016 shall be conducted only after getting necessary clearance from Govt. of India.
Out of which 18 (eighteen) seats are earmarked for foreign nationals to be nominated through diplomatic process. The breakups of these 18 seats are mentioned in the table below. Foreign national nominated for the course has to produce equivalence certificate from competent authority regarding their eligibility. [In case of any dispute about equivalence, the matter will be decided by prior reference to University and appropriate authority. Any fees / charges in this regard will not be borne by the Institute.]

The State/UT’s will send the nomination of candidates directly to the Director of the Institute within the prescribed date every year. The candidates nominated against the above quota should not be blind (including colour blindness), deaf and/or dumb and must possess at least 50% marks (45% for SC & ST candidates) in aggregate under the 10+2 science stream with at least five subjects including English, Physics, Chemistry; Biology and passed all the subjects individually. The candidate must have attained or will attain the age of 17 years but not crossed age of 25 years as on the 31st December, 2015. Those born on or before 31st December, 1990 or after 1st January, 1999 will not be eligible for the session 2015-2016. The unutilised seats from the above quota may be filled from the merit list of Admission Test subject to approval of the Ministry.

The selection for the remaining 61 (sixty one) seats will be made on the basis of an All India written Competitive Test (Admission-Test) held at Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Bhopal Centre. Out of the above seats, 09 seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste, 05 seats for Scheduled Tribe, 16 seats for Other Backward Classes, 01 seats is for Orthopedically Challenged (only for locomotor disability of lower limbs) Candidates. Thirty (30) seats are open to the General candidates. Candidates who are desirous of availing the reservation facilities under SC/ST/OBC/OH quota are required to enclose self-attested photocopy of their SC/ST/OBC/OH certificate issued by competent authority in prescribed format (See Annexure). In addition to this OBC candidates has to furnish a declaration that he/she does not belongs to the creamy layer of the society (see Annexure). Candidates from creamy layer and do not come under Central list are advised to mention their category as General.
The reservation in admission shall be applicable as per the Govt. of India Reservation policy prevalent at the time of counselling/admission.
